Our founder
Claire Charnock was born in Bangor, Northern Ireland and learned to swim aged seven. Since then she has loved swimming first as a form of fitness and then as a profession.
Claire qualified as a chartered accountant in1994 with KPMG Guildford and spent many years observing how others run successful international businesses. Then she moved to Marbella, Spain, where she worked as a logistics manager in international private banking with Credit Suisse Gibraltar, which again honed her business skills.
Having children changes you! Claire attended baby swim classes with her son Benjamin and her eyes were opened to a whole new world. She couldn’t believe how quickly a child can learn to swim and therefore survive in water. She also experienced that attending baby swim classes is a great form of bonding for parent and child and also for new parents and their children to meet and socialise with others. Claire realised how effective properly structured baby swim tuition could be and how there was great demand for such courses in the UK and particularly in Spain, where most homes are close to a swimming pool or beach.
Claire founded swim bebé swim in Spain in 2003, and the rest is History. Claire is absolutely delighted to be able to use her professional swim skills and business skills to do something she is passionate about.
In 2008, encouraged by feedback from numerous clients and the success over 5 years of providing baby swim and Aqua Natal swim courses in Spain, Claire began to share her swim bebé swim knowledge with specially recruited individuals to become franchisees. Claire is extremely proud of her franchisees, who have the ultimate mix of professionalism, skills, energy and enthusiasm to spread the teachings of swim bebé swim to a wider audience and to teach them to love the water.
