Benefits of baby

Baby
swimming
There are many benefits to introducing your child to swimming at an early
age…
·
Babies
who develop swimming abilities are often more alert for their age, with a
better eating and sleeping pattern.
·
Swimming
allows babies and toddlers to move independently long before they are able
to crawl or walk. This contributes to sound motor development and improves
the function of skeletal muscles.
·
Infant
aquacise can also be therapeutic, helping babies to develop muscles
symmetrically on both sides of the body. It is particularly beneficial for
premature babies as it helps them recapture stages of motor development that
they have missed.
·
Early
swimming helps to round and develop a baby’s personality and is a wonderful
way of parent/child bonding and confidence-building.

Toddler and early years swimming
When a child becomes
more mobile on land, safety around and in the pool becomes an increasingly
important issue. At this stage it is important to learn key safety skills
and nuture behaviour which can save lives. If a child is familiar with
water, used to going under and moving in water, is able to turn around
towards the edge of the water they have fallen into, has floating skills
etc, then their chances of surviving an accident are much greater.
The overall emphasis
is on encouraging free movement in the water, which will lead to swimming as
soon as babies and toddlers are physically and emotionally ready.
